Finals < Epic ride
i don't know how chris. and to all you finals biatches, the best way to study for finals is to exercise. if you exercise, and then go back to studying, your mind will be fresh. i better not see any backouts for this one because this ride is going to make lemmon look like child's play.
I'm with Christina on the Take 2. not sure about the Andy's ride yet..
I'm going to do some kind of ride, but want to keep it around three-four hours which means i'm not doing 120mi...for me, at least, this just seems counterproductive given my current fitness goals. would anyone like to do some kind of modified ride of around four hrs. or so max...not to steal thunder from this epic ride or anything?
matt, didn't you do some sort of kitt peak ride a while back with sean? where did you start? and where is that link sean posted with all the rides in arizona?
i would love to do another lemmon ride but won't be available until May 20th for that, but could go anytime between now and the 14th (family coming in from the 15th to the 19th).
Whats all this garbage talk? EPIC RIDE OR DIE
Here's the link for the website with all the rides:

I was going to respond to all the people trying to talk down the importance of finals, but decided it's not worth it. I'll just see you all after this dark time has passed.
What is with you people and epic rides? Seriously, wtf are we gonna do a 30-40 mile run? Thought we did MULTI-sport. Didn't realize UA Cycling Team bought us out...

ouch. Adnan that was rough! :) I'm pretty sure an epic run would look like this:
Everyone starts out together. People start dropping at mile 6, and by mile 12 or so you'd be running by yourself...
Sounds good Matt W. I can't go out for much longer than 3-4.
What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read that. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
THIS THREAD IS OFFICIALY CLOSED DUE TO THIS ARGUMENT GETTIN REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, REALLY DUMB.
There WILL be a ride this saturday and i'm sure that people will be down to do one next week after finals. Come on people!
kinda tha coolest person i've met
And the difference between a tricats epic ride, and the type of run that you are talking about is huge... 120 miles is normal for a cycling race, 40 miles of running is not common, Honestly, I think that they misuse the word epic, but whatever
Besides if you are riding your bike at 2 miles an hour during the ride you are still cycling, but if you walk during the epic run, then you didn't actually do an epic run did you.
Chris is an aquired taste.
I am down. You should do what andy did, and organize an epic run.... See who shows up, this club is all about the promotion of events dude. I organized all kinds of stuff last year, just posted it, made a few calls and people showed up. That is all that you have to do.
Chris is an aquired taste.
Chris has a point. Let's all rent fatsuits, dig a mud pit and do some hardcore sumo to resolve our issues. Better yet, EPIC mud sumo. It'll be sweet.
As for Chris's second point, last time I checked even Scott Jurek walks 1-2 miles of the WS100. Is he not running 100 miles? Ultrarunning isn't about running, it's about endurance. You have your ups and downs. You can walk. Doesn't mean you're not a runner.

I think that he is misleading people if he says that he ran 100 miles. Christina Birch said she did a marathon with the walk run method, so I think Scott owes people the same.
I am not a runner so I don't know, I am not even a triathlete, I just happen to like racing and training for triathlons. I really don't like those labels, they go against my life goals.
If there was a fun ultrarunning club, I would probably race those.
Chris is an aquired taste.
Christina Birch has done the marathon DISTANCE running and walking (and averaging a 9-minute-mile-with-walking-at-water-breaks, ty very much)... (I am just jinxed... every time I register for a marathon, I do something stupid like roll an ankle two weeks before the race.)
I don't know... sounds so much better to me than being in pain for 26.2 and only being able to "jog" at a walking pace.
I'm not a runner like Adnan is a runner, but I will defend any runner that takes walking breaks!!!
Adnan, I'm down for Epic Runs, or Epic Mud Sumo, especially if EITHER one involves fat suits.
